Farm gates and family adventures
Hill and Ridge country is made for family weekends. Start the day surrounded by nature before exploring some of the Peninsula’s best-loved farm gates. Meet the growers, pick fruit straight from the field, wander through bushland and finish the day by the water.
Endeavour Fern Gully
Begin with a peaceful rainforest walk at Endeavour Fern Gully a 2km circuit walk on a 28 hectare National Trust Property opposite the Red Hill Recreation Reserve. A 2km loop track winds through towering tree ferns and native bushland, creating a cool and quiet start to the day.
Main Ridge Dairy
A favourite farm gate in the hills of Main Ridge. Meet the goats, sample award-winning chèvre and pick up fresh local cheese to enjoy as part of your weekend.
Torello Farm
Often described as a farmers’ market in a farm gate. Browse seasonal produce grown on site and from nearby Peninsula farms, along with sourdough, cheeses and ready-made meals.
Day 2 - Outdoor adventure
Enchanted Adventure
Tree surfing, tube slides and outdoor play set among bushland on the hills of Arthurs Seat. Families can spend hours exploring mazes, gardens and climbing adventures.
Safety Beach Foreshore
Stretch the legs along the calm beach and keep an eye out for the Peninsula Fresh Seafood truck. Their seafood often includes Dromana Bay mussels grown just offshore at Safety Beach.
Rocky Creek Strawberry Farm
Strawberries have been grown here by the Gallace family since the 1960s. Pick your own during the season, then enjoy fresh ice-cream, strawberry desserts and other local produce made on site.
If you have time
Red Hill Rail Trail
A relaxed bike and scooter-friendly trail winding through bushland and farmland.
Arthur's Seat Eagle
Ride the gondola to the summit of Arthur's Seat and enjoy sweeping views across Port Phillip Bay.
