Six of Victoria's most outstanding young musicians will each perform a concerto movement with piano accompanist and at the end of the afternoon, the judges will announce their winner who will return in September to perform with the Frankston Symphony Orchestra. It is a live competition, and the result is decided on the day. There is nothing quite like it.
They will each perform selections from some of the most celebrated and demanding concertos in the repertoire:
Elgar — Cello Concerto, Op. 85
Gliere — Horn Concerto, Op. 91
Nielsen — Flute Concerto. CNW 42
Grieg — Piano Concerto, Op. 16
Shostakovich — Cello Concerto No. 1
Weber — Clarinet Concerto, Op. 73
