H5N1 avian influenza (bird flu) has been detected in Victoria. If you see sick or dead birds on the Peninsula, avoid contact and record what you see. Report it online or via the Emergency Animal Disease Hotline on 1800 675 888.

Somers Pedestrian & Traffic Study

Somers Pedestrian & Traffic Study was initially compiled in 2018 and adopted by Council on 26 March 2019. The study recommended several projects including:

the installation of a zebra crossing and raised platform on Camp Hill Road (Traffic & Transport are applying for Council funding to deliver this project in 2025/2026)
delivery of 1.5m, exposed aggregate footpath on the side of South Beach Road
delivery of 1.5m, exposed aggregate footpath on the side of Tasman Road
delivery of 1.5m, exposed aggregate footpath on the side of Parklands Avenue
delivery of 1.5m, exposed aggregate footpath on the western side of Lord Somers Road to connect the eastern side of the town.
