We’re inviting the community to share their thoughts on our draft Lease and Licence Policy.
 
This Policy will shape how the Shire manages and allocates its assets – ranging from community facilities to commercial spaces – while ensuring fair, consistent, and transparent processes for all tenants.
 
What’s new?
 
The draft Policy introduces key updates to make leasing and licensing more straightforward, including:

• A consistent approach across community and commercial properties.
• Clear guidelines for assessing rent for both community-based and commercial tenants.
• A simplified framework to help community groups understand what’s needed to lease or use Council-owned spaces.

This Policy will:

• Promote fairness by keeping facilities open and accessible to the whole community.
• Encourage shared and multi-use spaces to maximise the value of Council-owned assets.
• Make the leasing process clearer and easier for community groups, sports clubs, and other organisations.
