A standout weekend of live music has wrapped in the Dromana Industrial Estate, with the Dromana Weekender delivering strong economic and cultural impact as part of the Peninsula LIVE program. Mornington Peninsula Shire Mayor Councillor Stephen Batty said the success of events like the Dromana Weekender highlights the growing impact of live music events across the Peninsula. Across 7 venues, the event showcased a vibrant mix of local talent, drawing audiences to distilleries, breweries, maker spaces and local businesses. Performances featured artists ranging from established acts such as The Hoodoo Men and Delsinki to the next generation of young rockers on the Rawkus Live and Peninsula Rise stages. Ward Councillor Max Patton attended several events before closing the festival on the Rawkus Live stage on Sunday, praising the program's dedication to fostering the next generation of local artists. “From Folk to Hip-Hop to Rock the festival program had something for everyone, and following the success of Snazz in the Nazz , it is demonstrative of how residents view arts and culture as an essential part of living on the Peninsula; I am pleased that our Council invests in these opportunities. To wrap it up with young acts alongside Rawkus at Jimmy Rum was a privilege, a glimpse of some incredible up and coming talent and I am excited to support them into the future as we continue to develop the Council’s Arts Culture and Events Strategy," Cr Patton said. The event generated increased visitation, supported local businesses and reinforced the Peninsula’s reputation as a thriving destination for live music and cultural experiences. Councillor David Gill, who attended performances on the Saturday and Sunday said the success of Peninsula LIVE initiatives highlights the important role live music plays in supporting the local economy and cultural identity. "What the Dromana Weekender showed us is that when we bring people together through music, everyone benefits — the artists, the venues, the local businesses and the community as a whole. This is what a thriving, connected Peninsula looks like and I couldn't be prouder to see it come to life," Cr Gill said. The initiative continues to support local musicians, strengthen partnerships with venues and create opportunities for the community to discover the depth of local talent. Peninsula LIVE is presented by Mornington Peninsula Shire in partnership with the Live Music Office, OneMusic Australia and APRA AMCOS. This project has been assisted by the Australian Government through Music Australia. Peninsula LIVE continues to build a stronger, more connected and economically vibrant music community across the Peninsula.
