You’ve met Brad – now it’s time to meet Lachie!
By day, he’s a Programs and Services Officer at Mornington Library. By storytime, he’s the dad turning picture books and adventures into sing-along sessions that kids (and parents) won’t forget.

Yep that's right, Lachie brings out his guitar at storytime – strumming, singing, and turning each session into something a little bit magical. And the result? Pure joy on the library floor.

As both a dad and a storyteller, Lachie knows the power of connection.

Right now, he’s deep into The Chronicles of Narnia with his 9-year-old, but when his kids were younger their go-to was the classic We’re Going on a Bear Hunt – a book he also adored as a child.

Whether it’s family reading at home or adding a musical twist with his guitar, Lachie shows that dads, uncles and grandads can bring just as much warmth, rhythm and fun to storytime.

"It’s never too early to start the literacy journey – even when you’ve got bub in the belly, you can be reading to them,” he says.

This Father’s Day, while Lachie heads off on a family road trip, we’re celebrating him – and every dad, stepdad, pop, and male guardian figure on the Peninsula – who picks up a book, strums a tune or simply shares a story with their kids.

Because whether it’s a bear hunt, a trip to Narnia, or a few chords on the guitar, those little moments create lifelong bonds.

Want to join the magic? We’ve got a storytime for every stage:
