If you thought history was just dusty old books and faded photographs, think again. Our Stories: Unearthed at Mount Martha House proved heritage can be captivating, hands-on, and full of surprises.

This event wasn’t your typical history lesson. Visitors wandered through curated displays from the Mount Martha House Collection, uncovered secrets with local historical societies, and even brought along their own treasures for expert valuations.

The historic surrounds buzzed with creativity and connection. The ‘Coffee Palace’ served up traditional Devonshire tea (which disappeared faster than we could keep count), while live music added the perfect soundtrack. Artists set up their easels and painted plein air, capturing the stunning views.

For those feeling crafty, decoupage and floristry workshops offered a chance to get hands-on. Meanwhile, a pop-up film selection brought stories to life on screen, adding another layer of engagement for history buffs and newcomers alike.

It wasn’t just about the past, it was about how history shapes us today and why we need to keep these stories alive.
