The Mornington Peninsula is a place where everyone belongs, and this year, we’re coming together to support three important national initiatives that celebrate inclusion and respect: IDAHOBITReconciliation Week and NAIDOC Week.

From 17 May to 13 July, we’re hosting a range of local activities that reflect the values of these national observances, offering opportunities to connect, learn, and celebrate the rich diversity that shapes our community.

These initiatives provide a chance to showcase the strength and legacy of First Nations cultures, reflect on the ongoing journey of reconciliation, and stand in solidarity with the LGBTIQA+ community in the fight against discrimination.

Whether you're participating in a traditional bush tucker session, attending a rainbow storytime, or joining a cultural awareness training session, there’s something for everyone to connect with, learn from, and engage in.

These events are open to everyone. Together, we can build stronger connections across all ages, genders, abilities, cultures, and sexualities, and ensure that we all belong in a thriving, united Peninsula.

Quotes attributable to Mayor Councillor Anthony Marsh:

“We’re proud to be a community where everyone feels they belong. By embracing diversity and supporting one another, we’re creating a more connected and caring Mornington Peninsula.”
