Another Unscheduled Council Meeting will be held to elect a new mayor for Mornington Peninsula Shire Council. Council did not reach an absolute majority at last night’s meeting to elect a new mayor following the resignation of The Briars Ward Councillor Anothy Marsh. The meeting will be held on Tuesday 16 June 2026. Chief Executive Officer Mark Stoermer said the Shire remains committed to a transparent election process while continuing to deliver the best for residents and ratepayers. “Deputy Mayor Paul Pingiaro will continue to serve in the role as Acting Mayor until a new Mayor is elected.” Mr Stoermer said. Details of the continued meeting will be published this week at mornpen.vic.gov.au/councilmeetings.
