We are inviting community members to express their interest in joining Coastal Advisory Groups.

Coastal Advisory Groups play a crucial role in advising and assisting the Shire in the use, development, planning, management, protection, and enhancement of our coastlines. As the Committee of Management for 64 km of the Mornington Peninsula’s coastline, we recognise the importance of local knowledge and community involvement. These groups will also serve as a channel for communication between the Shire and the broader community regarding coastal projects.

Coastal Advisory Groups consist of community members with a diverse range of experience and knowledge and operate under a Council-adopted Terms of Reference, Volunteer Policy and Code of Conduct.

We want a diverse representation of our community. We need to recruit additional members to join five existing groups.

When assessing an EOI, we will consider the following:

  • Providing new members the opportunity to join Advisory Groups
  • Skills, local knowledge and relevant expertise and experience
  • Community engagement and volunteering (including membership of earlier CAGs)
  • Knowledge of relevant plans, strategies and other key guiding documents relevant to the future planning of the area
  • Other key stakeholder groups that applicants may be affiliated with
  • A spread of representation from across all coastal townships in the area.

This is a fantastic opportunity for community members to actively contribute to shaping the future of our coastlines.
