The wait is over – Somers' brand-new dirt jump park at RW Stone Reserve is ready to roll!

Local riders have hit the track, testing out the jumps they helped design and build, and the verdict is in: it's epic!

Through the Dirt Jumps Program, young shredders didn’t just get to ride – they picked up shovels, learned from expert trail builders on how to shape and maintain these dirt jumps which helps create a space that’s as fun as it is safe.

With table-tops, gap jumps, berms, and more, there’s something for every skill level, whether you’re a beginner or sending it over the biggest jumps.

So, what did they think? We spoke with some of the young riders, and the excitement was undeniable!

This awesome new park is part of the Mornington Peninsula Shire’s Dirt Jumps Program, which kicked off in response to the explosion of interest in bike riding back in 2021.

After the success of the Citation Reserve pilot in 2022, the Shire adopted a strategy to create dedicated dirt jump sites across the Peninsula.

RW Stone Reserve in Somers was selected as the latest location, giving young riders a purpose-built space to hone their skills and have a blast.

So, what are you waiting for? Grab your bike, test out the jumps, and get ready to ride Somers' newest and most exciting track!

Quotes attributable to Mayor Councillor Anthony Marsh:
"It's been incredible to see young riders getting involved, not just in riding but in actually shaping this space. This project is about more than just having fun – it's about learning new skills and creating something that will benefit the whole community."

Quotes attributable to Coolart Ward Councillor David Gill:
“This project is a game-changer for the youth in Somers, providing a fantastic way for young people to have fun while respecting our beautiful natural surroundings. What makes this project even more special is that the kids were hands-on in the build, learning from experts and taking real ownership of their new riding space.”
