Your Local Connection Points

Introducing Your Local Connection Points — another convenient way to access customer support and Shire services across the Peninsula.

In addition to our main offices at Mornington, Rosebud, and Hastings, we have expanded our face-to-face reach with smaller, localised hubs at Somerville, Dromana, Red Hill and Sorrento.

These Connection Points are situated in smaller townships and provide face-to-face assistance on a wide range of services, from general enquiries and service advice to processing forms and EFTPOS payments. These sites also offer opportunities to access additional Shire services, with regular service collaborations and pop-up events.

Your Local Connection Points are partnering with Our Library Van (OLiV) to combine customer support and library services. OLiV is trialling a fortnightly schedule, visiting 16 stops across 14 unique locations. View the full timetable to find your closest stop and discover upcoming session times.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why are they needed?

We are implementing this initiative to improve access to Shire services. Our goal is to provide convenient, in-person support for our community, and to ensure residents in smaller townships have access to the support they need.

How were the locations chosen?

The chosen locations are spread across the municipality where the Shire does not currently have a customer support presence. We looked at several locations across the Peninsula, but we selected these sites based on factors including cost, accessibility, and local demographics.

What is the cost for setting these up?

We are minimising costs by co-locating in existing spaces that already offer some form of community service. Customer Service staff assist customers online and via phone when not attending to community members on site. Our resource allocation adapts based on community demand and feedback.

Why is a trial needed?

The extended trial allows us to assess our community's appetite for for face-to-face customer service and test the scope of services required at each location.Ongoing reviews over the extended trial period will allow for progressive improvements based on customer feedback and user data.

When does the trial finish?

Council has voted to extend the trial of Your Local Connection Points at Somerville, Dromana and Sorrento, with a new site to be assessed for the Red Hill location.

What is a Community Kiosk?

Community Kiosk is a digital device designed to help customers navigate and understand our online information and resources with the help of staff. Its primary purpose is to provide guided support in accessing our online information and is not intended for conducting independent transactions with the Shire. These user-assisted devices will be gradually introduced at selected sites in the future, expanding accessibility to information and support services for our customers.

Why don’t they all offer the same services and opening hours?

The services and opening hours vary based on community demand as well as the capacity of our staff and local infrastructure. The points may be scaled over time in response to further planning and feedback to ensure convenient access.
