Sustainable Transport Strategy

This Sustainable Transport Strategy (STS) outlines our vision on sustainable transport. This will inform planning and decision-making in relation to sustainable transport for the Peninsula.

The Strategy outlines the role of sustainable transport in delivering on health, economic, social and environmental sustainability for the community.

Six main priorities are outlined:

  • Increasing transport options for our ageing population and keeping residents active and engaged in their community
  • Supporting people with a disability to access public transport
  • Better access to education and employment for our residents
  • Less traffic congestion around schools, and our desire to reduce congestion at peak times to improve road safety and accessibility
  • Reduce our high dependency on private motor vehicle usage
  • Support for low emission
  • Promoting walking and riding as modes of transport to improve physical, social and mental health outcomes of the community
