Making your event eco-friendly just got a whole lot easier. To help bring down waste disposal costs for event organisers and reduce litter from single-use crockery, we’ve launched our innovative Wash Against Waste trailer, now available to hire for all outdoor events across the Peninsula.

Stocked with reusable plates, bowls, cups and an industrial strength dishwasher, the trailer can cater for up to 2,000 people – perfect for Peninsula’s many markets, school fetes and events! Social enterprise B- Alternative has been appointed to operate the trailer, making hosting an eco-friendly event a breeze for organisers.

We also offer free-to-borrow signage, flags and bin covers to make waste stations easy to spot and help guests sort their waste and return their crockery and drinkware.

To make event planning even easier, we’ve created a whole section on our website with helpful information and tips:from checklists to practical guides, learn how to reduce waste and create cleaner, greener community events.

The trailer will launch at the Coolart Community Picnic on Sunday 2 November from 12–5pm at Coolart Wetlands & Homestead (Lord Somers Rd, Somers). Join us for a fantastic day out featuring live music, a gnome hunt, food trucks and more. Gold coin donation entry.

It's the perfect opportunity to see the Wash Against Waste trailer in action and discover how easy it is to host sustainable community events on the Peninsula.

Who can make use of these resources?

Anyone who is hosting an outdoor event where food is served! The trailer is the perfect support act to food trucks at markets and festivals, school fetes, sporting events and so on.

Funding

This trailer is not in business to make a profit, rather it’s here to help reduce cost for event organisers. There is a charge in hiring the trailer, contact B Alternative for a free quote. You can apply for funding support through our Community Investment Fund.

This project was made possible thanks to a State Government Circular Economy Councils Fund grant.

Quote attributable to Mayor Councillor Anthony Marsh:

“One of the best things about our Peninsula is the jam-packed calendar of community events! Unfortunately, disposable eating and drinking utensils are often the biggest source of waste at these types of gatherings, making extra work for organisers who have to clean it up.

“The Wash Against Waste trailer was built to address this issue and help event organisers by minimising post-event rubbish clean-ups and significantly reducing waste disposal costs. It’s an easy win for the environment and for event organisers!”
