We are thrilled to share the successful funding of the Dallas Brooks Reserve soccer upgrade through the Australian Government’s Thriving Suburbs Program.

The project includes the reconstruction of four full-size soccer pitches, catering to both National Premier League standards and domestic-level competition. The upgrade also features:
• Car parking with all-access spaces
• Connecting pathways to enhance accessibility
• New lighting
• Essential infrastructure including drainage and fencing
• Upgraded spectator areas for improved comfort and engagement.

Located on a former landfill site, the project requires additional time and investment for construction.

Soccer is a growing sport, and Australia’s most played organised sport with more than 1.8 million participants nationwide. Locally, Mornington Soccer Club, who calls Dallas Brooks Reserve home, has noticed an uptake in the sport too. Growth, especially in female registrations, has been unprecedented in recent years with two senior women’s teams and an increase in young girls ranging from U8 – U15.

Quotes attributable to Mayor Councillor Anthony Marsh:
“This is fantastic news for our local soccer community and the Mornington Soccer Club and reflects the sport’s growing popularity on the Peninsula."

Quote attributable to Moorooduc Councillor Bruce Ranken:
“Mornington Soccer Club has worked hard to become a well-respected and popular club. From mini-roos to senior soccer teams, this club caters to and welcomes everyone. With the senior men’s team competing in State League 1 and being ranked #1 in the Shire, the club has a strong ambition to progress their younger players too – and hopefully, on brand new pitches their vision might come true!”

Quote attributable to Craig Riley, president of Mornington Soccer Club:
“2025 is our 60th anniversary providing grassroots soccer on the Peninsula. We have over 400 active members: the youngest being four and our oldest registered player being 63!

“The news regarding the upgrade to the grounds at Dallas Brooks is an absolute game changer for our club. It has brought about excitement and tears from some of the stalwarts at the club who have been dreaming of this day for over two decades. Having quality surfaces and lighting will provide the framework for any aspiring young player to achieve their full potential. Hopefully we see a Socceroo or Matilda of the future emerge from this investment into our facility.

"I would also like to thank all of the current and previous members of the committee who have worked hard in this endeavour.

“Mornington Soccer Club would like to take this opportunity to thank those members of the council and local government who have worked hard to get this over the line for us.”
