This Australia Day, Mornington Peninsula Shire is proud to support a range of events to bring our community together in the spirit of respect and connection.

Family-friendly celebrations will take place across the Peninsula, featuring live music, kids’ activities, tasty food and BBQs, and more:

  • Dromana Foreshore (next to the pier), 8.30am to 1.30pm
  • Rosebud Aus Day Fun Run, Rosebud Village Green, 8.30am to 1pm
  • Sorrento – events hosted by the Sorrento Portsea RSL and Rotary Club of Sorrento

Held on Bunurong land at The Briars, Our Survival Day is an Aboriginal-led community event that offers a safe and culturally empowering space for First Nations people and their allies.

For more information on these and all our community events, visit mornpen.vic.gov.au/australiaday.

Quotes attributable to Mayor Councillor Anthony Marsh:

“26 January is a day for both celebration and reflection. We recognise that it holds different meanings for different people, offering an opportunity to listen, learn, and come together in ways that respect and acknowledge everyone."

“I’m looking forward to hosting the Australia Day Awards and Citizenship Ceremony in Flinders on Australia Day, celebrating the incredible contributions of our community alongside award recipients and welcoming our newest Australian citizens. I will also attend a flag-raising ceremony in Mount Martha and a community event at the Sorrento Portsea RSL.”
