The Mornington Peninsula's passion for local food and sustainable farming was on full display this week, as more than 100 people filled Flinders Civic Hall for the sold-out 2025 Agroecology Forum.

Now in its fourth edition (previously known as the Food Forum), the event brings together growers, chefs, artisan makers, academics and more to explore the future of food - one rooted in ecology, culture, and community.

This year’s program, hosted by Dani Valent, delivered exactly that. From the opening Welcome to Country to keynote talks by agroecologist Dr Tammi Jonas and Gamilaroi woman and author Dominique Chen, topics included connection to land, resilient food systems, and Indigenous knowledge.

Breakout sessions dug into everything from regenerative farming to the challenges of local food supply chains. The delicious farm-to-table lunch by chef Simone Watts showcased local produce, proving that incredible taste grows right here on the Peninsula.
