Crib Point: Crib Point Landfill Capping Rehabilitation Works

Draft design drawing for Crib Point Landfill at Lens Reserve.png

Lens Reserve in Crib Point was previously used as a landfill, as such the Shire is responsible for managing the post-closure aspects of the site.

This includes regular audits of the site and following an audit in 2021, the Environment Protection Agency (EPA) required a Landfill Rehabilitation Plan be developed.

A scope of works has since been developed to rehabilitate the landfill cap to reduce the infiltration of rainwater and prevent leakage of landfill gasses. A more uniform surface will also be achieved by reducing the surface undulations for the benefit of passive recreation users.

The tender recommendation for construction was endorsed by Council on March 11, 2025. Construction works have now commenced and currently tracking towards an end of 2025 completion date. We have had to contend with some challenging site conditions over the last month due to the weather which has at times slowed our progress.
