Draft design drawing for Crib Point Landfill at Lens Reserve.png

Lens Reserve in Crib Point was previously used as a landfill, as such the Shire is responsible for managing the post-closure aspects of the site.

This includes regular audits of the site and following an audit in 2021, the Environment Protection Agency (EPA) required a Landfill Rehabilitation Plan be developed.

A scope of works has since been developed to rehabilitate the landfill cap to reduce the infiltration of rainwater and prevent leakage of landfill gasses. A more uniform surface will also be achieved by reducing the surface undulations for the benefit of passive recreation users.

The tender recommendation for construction was endorsed by Council on March 11, 2025. The works are scheduled to start later in the year when weather conditions are more favourable. It is anticipated that works will begin in August 2025 and be completed by the end of October 2025.
