After receiving additional funding from the Roads to Recovery grant, which supports the construction and maintenance of the nation’s local road infrastructure assets, the Shire is progressing Stage 2 works of Broadway Road and Drainage Upgrade project. The Stage 2 works of the project will undertake construction of a roundabout, new street lighting and a pedestrian crossing at the Broadway and Truemans Road intersection.

Stage 2 works:

Upgrading the Broadway and Truemans Road intersection with the installation of a new roundabout.
Road drainage upgrades.
Street lighting upgrades.
Construction of a 2.5m wide footpath connecting the new footpath from stage 1 to the existing footpath network.
Installation of a new pedestrian crossing.

Activities include tree and vegetation removal in accordance with approved planning permits, site establishment, and the installation of traffic management signage as outlined in the Traffic Management Plan (TMP).

Construction works, including electrical pole relocation and lighting works are due for completion prior to the peak summer period in late 2025.

Project Update

The project has reached its final stages, with the majority of works now complete. Significant progress has been achieved throughout construction, including the installation of concrete footpaths, new lighting infrastructure, and the central roundabout island. Pavement preparation works were completed ahead of the asphalting and linemarking program, which has now been successfully delivered.

The roundabout is fully operational, with all associated linemarking and signage installed. Only minor finishing works remain underway to finalise the project.
