Finding Home: Stories of Hope & Action

Next date: Sunday, 13 September 2026 | 02:00 PM to 04:00 PM

What does it mean to have a place to call home?

Join us for an afternoon of powerful storytelling, community conversation and practical action as we explore one of the most pressing issues facing our region: housing insecurity and homelessness.

Hosted by WeShare MP, in support of Western Port Community Support*, this special fundraising event brings together people who care deeply about creating secure housing within connected communities on the Mornington Peninsula.

Program:

  • Opening address from Georgia Hourn, Executive Officer and Laura Sutton, Program’s Co-ordinator at Western Port Community Support, sharing insights into the growing housing crisis and stories of its impact on local people and families.

  • Screening of Tiny Move, Big Impact, an inspiring documentary exploring how tiny homes can offer affordable, sustainable housing solutions and why changes to state and local government regulations are needed to allow tiny homes to be used as permanent residences. (With thanks to Isaac Carne, East Gippsland filmmaker who is leading a Tiny House advocacy project in the region.)

  • Audience interaction and time for conversation and the sharing of stories that inspire hope, spark ideas and encourage meaningful action.

  • Afternoon tea and the opportunity to connect with others who are passionate about creating practical housing solutions and stronger communities.

  • Learn about WeShare, a grassroots community movement built around sharing skills, food, resources, time and connection. Discover how local people are building resilience and belonging, and how similar groups can be started in other communities.

Come for the stories. Leave informed, hopeful and ready to act.

Three ways you can help Western Port Community Support

  1. Buy a ticket and support the work. Proceeds from the event will support Western Port Community Support and its work with local people experiencing hardship.

  2. Bring something for the Western Port Pantry. Please bring sealed, packaged food within its use-by or best-before date, such as pasta, rice, cereal, canned vegetables and canned meals, or essential toiletries.

  3. Make a donation. If you can give a little more — or can't attend the event — you can donate directly to Western Port Community Support. DONATE HERE

We are also running a pantry drive for Western Port Community Support and offering a delicious afternoon tea and screening a movie on tiny homes.
