Mornington: Schnapper Point Boardwalk

Project summary

Schnapper Paint boardwalk in Mornington is being upgraded this spring.

Works include replacing old timber with fibre reinforced polymer (RFP). This material has been chosen for its significant advantages over timber. Benefits include: 

• Highly durable. RFP is resistant to rot, corrosion, rust and salt, making it a superior choice for a coastal path. 
• Low maintenance. RFP does not require painting, sealing or staining.  
• Safe and anti-slip. Unlike timber, RFP does not get slippery when wet and does not splinter or crack. 
• Long lifespan reduces the need for frequent replacement.

Project timeline

Construction to commence early September 2026 for a duration of eight weeks. The path (or sections of it) will be closed during construction.
