We are proposing changes to parking restrictions in the Mornington Major Activity Centre, in line with the recommendations from the Mornington Parking Precinct Plan(PDF, 48MB). This plan seeks to ensure that parking within the major activity centre services the diverse needs of users.

Key recommendations from the Parking Precinct Plan include improving parking restrictions in high-demand areas and upgrading wayfinding signage for drivers. As part of this process, we are inviting feedback on a series of potential changes to parking restrictions in Main Street and surrounding streets and off-street carparks.

The current proposal includes:

  • Extending the hours of existing 1/4P, 1/2P, and 1P parking restrictions on Main Street to operate from 9 am to 5 pm, Monday to Sunday
  • Conversion of 24 existing 1P spaces to 1/2P Monday to Sunday on Main Street Extension of parking restrictions on Ross Street, Queen Street, Vancouver Street, Railway Grove, Blake Street, Albert Street, and Octavia Street
  • Adjustments to loading zones, no-standing areas, Barrett Lane and Cromwell Street including changes to time limits and hours of operation
  • Conversion of 2P Monday to Saturday parking in the sealed outdoor carpark between Railway Grove and Blamey Place (outside Mornington Central) to 2P Monday to Sunday
  • Conversion of 2P Monday to Saturday Council managed parking in the sealed carpark between Barrett Lane, Waterloo Place and Barkly Street to 2P Monday to Sunday.

  • Existing 1/4P, 1/2P, and 1P parking restrictions on Main Street extended to apply between 9am-5pm Monday to Sunday
  • Conversion of 24 x 1P spaces Main Street to 1/2P Monday to Sunday.

 

 

Streets adjacent to Main Street

  • Ross Street – existing 5 x 2P spaces extended to apply to 9am-5pm Monday to Sunday
  • Queen Street – existing 8 x 2P & 2 x 1/4P spaces extended to apply between 9am-5pm Monday to Sunday
  • Vancouver Street – existing 1 x 1/4P space extended to apply between 9am-5pm Monday to Sunday
  • Railway Grove – existing 4 x 1P spaces extended to apply between 9am-5pm Monday to Sunday
  • Blake Street – existing 8 x 1P and loading zone extended to apply between 9am-5pm Monday to Sunday
  • Albert Street – existing 1P spaces, loading zone and existing 1/2P spaces all extended to apply between 9am-5pm Monday to Sunday
  • Octavia Street (Albert to Empire) – existing 10 x Loading zone spaces extended to apply 9am-5pm Monday to Sunday
  • Octavia Street (Empire to Barkly) – 6 x existing 15min Loading zone spaces, 9 loading zone spaces and 2 x no standing spaces extended to apply between 9am-5pm Monday to Sunday
  • Barkly Street – existing 1/2P spaces changed to apply between 9am-5pm Monday to Sunday
  • Barrett Lane – existing 1/2P spaces and 1/4P spaces to apply between 9am-5pm Monday to Sunday
  • Cromwell Street – existing 2 x 2P spaces extended to apply all times Monday to Sunday and existing 5 x 1P spaces to apply between 9am-5pm Monday to Sunday.

  • 8 x Unrestricted spaces in 2 Vancouver Street Sealed Carpark
  • Existing Mornington Central outdoor carpark 2P restrictions Monday to Saturday extended to apply between 9am-5pm Monday to Sunday
  • 54 x 2P spaces withing existing Barkly Street and Barrett Lane sealed carpark extended to apply between 9am-5pm Monday to Sunday
