Capel Sound: priority footpath – Capel Ave

Mornington Peninsula Shire is proposing to construct a new footpath along the western side of Capel Avenue, Capel Sound. 

The proposed footpath will extend the existing path from where it currently ends in front of 12–16 Capel Avenue to the intersection of Capel Avenue and Eastbourne Road. 

The proposed footpath forms part of Council’s Pedestrian Access Strategy and is currently ranked fifth in priority within the Principal Pedestrian Network (PPN). The project aims to improve pedestrian safety and accessibility along Capel Avenue by providing a more continuous and suitable walking route for the local community. 

The project is proposed to be delivered in conjunction with the Capel Sound Local Area Traffic Management (LATM) project to coordinate the proposed improvements within the area. 

Scope 

  • Construction of a new footpath connecting the existing footpath in front of 12–16 Capel Avenue to Eastbourne Road. 

  • Removal of two trees located in front of 30 and 36 Capel Avenue to accommodate the proposed footpath alignment.
