Peninsula Advisory Committee for Elders (PACE)
The Peninsula Advisory Committee for Elders (PACE) was established by the Mornington Peninsula Shire in 2006, as one of the key outcomes of the Council’s five-year Elder Citizens Strategy of 2002. The role of PACE is to advise Council on how best to respond to and meet the current and future needs of elder citizens on the Mornington Peninsula, as part of the Shire’s Positive Ageing Actions, within the We All Belong Strategy 2024-2029. This strategy outlines the Council’s approach to working in partnership across key life stages (children, young people, older adults) and population groups (people with disability, LGBTIQA+ and multicultural communities) over the next five years.
Vision
PACE, through collaboration and consultation with Council and the community, will assist in shaping and creating inclusive communities for older people on the Mornington Peninsula. In addition, an important responsibility will be to identify and acknowledge those communities which already exist in the Shire.
Community Forums
PACE support and advocate for community forums to be held on topics of relevance to the older community. These forums cover issues such as dementia awareness, elder abuse awareness, end of life planning, wills and powers of attorney. PACE members are interested to hear about issues that community members would like to learn more about.

Pace 2026 – 20 Years Advocating for Older Residents
The Peninsula Advisory Committee for Elders (PACE) is celebrating a significant milestone in 2026 — 20 years of advising the Mornington Peninsula Shire Council on the issues that matter most to older residents.
Established in 2006, PACE was one of the first committees of its kind in Victoria. Made up of local residents aged 55 and over, the committee advises Council on everything from housing and transport to social inclusion and aged care — playing a direct role in shaping the Shire's approach to positive ageing.
