The Shire is celebrating Biodiversity Month this September with the Biodiversity Blitz 2021 challenge and we’re inviting everyone to get involved. Joining the Blitz is a great way to learn about local plants and animals. By taking part you'll be contributing to citizen science and showing the world the amazing biodiversity your local area has to offer.
What is Biodiversity Blitz 2021?
Biodiversity Blitz 2021 is a nature-based citizen science event run throughout September, encouraging people across greater Melbourne to record and share their observations of local plants and animals by uploading their photos to the citizen science app iNaturalist.
The Shire has with eight of our neighbouring councils to host this year's Biodiversity Blitz event, and we're competing to see who can record the most species. With all the amazing biodiversity we have on the Peninsula we have high hopes to win, but we need your help!
How do I get involved?
