To celebrate Biodiversity Month this September, we've partnered with our neighbouring councils to host the greater Melbourne Bio Blitz and we’re inviting everyone to get involved.

Bio Blitz 2024 is a nature-based citizen science event run throughout September, encouraging people across greater Melbourne to explore the natural environment and photograph their nature finds and upload them to the iNaturalist app. You can record all sorts of living things - plants, animals, bugs, butterflies, fungi, moss and lichen. Participating is a great way to learn about local plants and animals and get involved in local conservation and citizen science

Participation has never been easier, all you need is the outdoors, a smartphone and an eager eye.

How do I get involved?

Follow these steps to join in the fun:

• Download the free iNaturalist App on your smart phone
• Sign up to create your profile (or login if you’re already a user)
• From 1 September, head out into nature, take photos of your nature finds and upload them to the app.

Your observations will automatically be added to the Mornington Peninsula Bio Blitz 2024 Project tally on iNaturalist.
