About our name
Tounnin Wominjeka means "Warm Welcome" in the Bunurong language and is the perfect way to describe what this space means for young people in the Southern Peninsula.
This name was chosen after a consultation process:
- We visited schools and public spaces and asked 100s of young people in the Southern Peninsula what the new youth hub would mean to them.
- We took the young people's words to the Bunurong Land Council Aboriginal Corporation and asked them to give us three name options in the Bunurong Language
- Young people voted on three different name options to choose Tounnin Wominjeka.
