Parent Information & Sleep and Settling Sessions
Helpful education sessions for parents and carers
Our experienced Maternal and Child Health nurses run face-to-face personalised education sessions to help young families feel confident and thrive. Our small-group sessions are free and cover all the important topics, including:
- Sleep. While it’s completely normal for young kids to wake up in the night, it can be draining on the whole family. We have advice on how to give your family the best chance of a good night’s sleep.
- Nutrition. When and what should your little one be eating? Are there rights and wrongs when it comes to weaning? We’ll talk you through all the usual hurdles and challenges families face and give you advice on how to make meal times a positive experience.
- Development and behaviour. All babies develop at different speeds, and with every new milestone comes different behaviours too. Learn how to gently guide your toddler when they’re feeling overcome with emotions, how to enjoy the moment and prepare for the next stage.
- Playtime and safety. Stuck on play ideas? We get it. Often simple is best, and we have so many great ideas on how to be playful and safe with your little ones.
- Q&A: Ask away! Our sessions are run in a supportive environment, where no questions are off the table, so book in and get personalised advice for your situation.
Held regularly throughout the year, parents and carers can attend sessions tailored to their child’s age:
- 0-6 months
- 6-12 months
- 12+ months
We encourage you to attend without your little person to get the most out of the session. If this is not possible for you, please call
5950 1099 to make an appointment with your MCH Nurse to talk about other options.
Our Parent Education program is held at Dromana and Mornington Park Maternal and Child Health centres.
