International Women's Day (IWD) on 8 March is a global day to celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women and to build support for women’s rights around the world. 

The theme for International Women's Day 2024 is Inspire Inclusion. When we inspire others to understand and value women’s inclusion, we forge a better world.

The Shire is hosting a Fair Access Breakfast as part of the club development program for sporting clubs and leagues in the lead up to International Women’s Day. The event will highlight the Victorian Government’s new Fair Access Policy Roadmap (‘Change Our Game’) and to launch our Gender Inclusive Sports Club Toolkit.

The free event will be held on Friday 1 March 2024 7 - 9am at Safety Beach Sailing Club. Bookings essential:

  • Portrait of a Sea Wolf' is an exhibition presented by local documentary photographer Noa Smith Fletcher. Supported through our Creative Grants program and our commitment to fostering contemporary art in public spaces, this captivating series of large-scale photographs captures the essence of the Sea Wolves swimming community in Mt Martha.
    As one of the founding members of the Sea Wolves, which started during the 2020 lockdown, Noa brings a unique perspective to this work. Step into the lives of these courageous women who brave the bay's waters each morning.

    ‘Portrait of a Sea Wolf’ will be on display at Yawa Aquatic Centre, 100 Besgrove Street, Rosebud from Friday 8 March until Thursday 28 March, during opening hours:
    • Monday - Friday, 6am - 9pm
    • Saturday - Sunday, 8am - 7pm
    • Public Holidays, 8am - 4pm
