Briars Junior Ranger Nature Lovers

There is so much to discover in spring as animals start moving about again and flowers start blooming. Come along and awaken your senses together with the plants and animals at the Briars as we greet a new Spring! You will learn the art of nature observation and create some works of art yourself.

Join us as we stretch our bat wings and frog legs and go looking for signs that animals are waking up from Winter weariness. We will listen for frog song, sniff out sweet blossoms and make some of our own nature art! After exploring we’ll sit together and create our own little bats to take home – you’ll even learn how to help them relax and go to sleep… Feel free to dress up as a bat, batman or batgirl!

Briars Bat Box Building!

Spring is here and we’re not the only ones coming out of semi-hibernation… so are our BATS! Microbats are definitely one of the coolest animals at the Briars, and Spring is the perfect time to learn more about these tiny flying mammals. Junior Rangers will explore the Briars Sanctuary on a quest to discover amazing facts about bats, then make their way back to the Visitor’s Centre to build a BAT BOX to take home to their garden. Putting up a bat house is a great way to encourage bats to visit your backyard where they’ll help pollinate, fertilise, and reduce the number of insects in your garden in no time. Join us this Spring to learn more about these tiny superheroes!

Program for 6-10 year-olds. Adult supervision required
10 – 11.30am

Cost: $35 per child

A great activity for all. Wear close-toed shoes or boots and dress appropriately for weather that evening.

This walk is suitable for those comfortable walking 1 ½-2km on unsealed track, slightly undulating in areas.  Children must be accompanied by adults.
