Booking a Sports Ground

The Shire maintains over 60 sportsgrounds on the Peninsula, which form part of Shire's network of public open space.  Our sportsgrounds are for shared, informal community use outside of booking periods.

Sports Facilities such as ovals, pitches, courts and some cricket nets are available for casual (one off or irregular) hire for schools, private sports academies, associations, commercial businesses and community groups located within the Mornington Peninsula Shire, outside the dates and times allocated to sports clubs.  We do not accept bookings from groups located outside the Mornington Peninsula Shire.

Bookings provide access to the sporting field only, however public toilets are located at most Shire reserves. Community halls are available for hire at several sporting reserves, learn more on our community halls page.

Key Information

  • Bookings are available Monday to Friday between 8am and 3.30pm.
  • A Certificate of Currency for $20million Public Liability Insurance is required for all bookings.
  • Applications must be made at least 10 business days prior to required date. Late requests may not be accommodated.
  • Sports Pavilions are not available for casual hire. 
  • Bookings will be subject to existing sports club usage agreements, maintenance periods, periods of ground closure due to ground conditions, and projects. 
  • Bookings during Winter are limited. Bookings for these months may need to be moved or cancelled, subject to ground conditions at the time. 

  • For Civic Athletics, Tennis and Bowls Facility bookings: please visit the online community directory MP Community.  If you wish to enquire or book these facilities, please contact the clubs directly.

 

Fees

  • The fees for 2022/23 are listed in the table below
  • A half day minimum booking period applies (4 hour session)
  • Fee is charged per oval / pitch
  • You will receive an invoice within 30 days of your booking

STEP 1.  REVIEW THE CASUAL SPORTSGROUND BOOKINGS- TERMS & CONDITIONS

STEP 2. GATHER YOUR PUBLIC LIABILITY INSURANCE

Ensure you have an electronic copy of your current Public Liability Insurance for $20 million.

STEP 3. APPLY ONLINE

Please allow 10 business days for your application to be processed.  Once approved, you will receive a confirmation letter via email.

For any booking that cannot be accommodated, we will contact the applicant and other arrangements may be explored.
