2019 Green Wedge Paint Out exhibition


The 2019 Green Wedge Exhibition has been developed for artists to create an image of an aspect of the Mornington Peninsula’s Green Wedge.

Green Wedge Exhibition curators will ensure that all artworks entered into the 2019 Green Wedge Exhibition will be displayed at one of three Green Wedge Exhibition Sites; 

  • Oakhill Gallery, 31 May- Sunday 30 June, 100 Mornington-Tyabb Rd, Mornington 

  • Merricks House Art Gallery, Saturday 15 June-Sunday 6 July, Merricks General Wine Store, 3460 Frankston-Flinders Road, Merricks 

  • Mornington Peninsula Shire, Rosebud Chambers, Monday 17 June-Thursday 1 August, 9 Besgrove Street, Rosebud  

Exhibition information 

  1. We are seeking paintings and drawings of the Green Wedge completed in the past twelve months that have not previously been entered in the Shire’s Green Wedge exhibition program.

  2. You are eligible to register if you live, work or play on the Mornington Peninsula. 

  3. All entries will be judged by a panel and selected works will be awarded three bursaries: $1,000 Most Inspiring Award, $500 Green Award and $500 Encouragement Award.  

  4. On Saturday 6 April and Tuesday 30 April there will be two free mentoring sessions  and a Paint Out held at a Green Wedge location. 

  5. The official launch is on Saturday 15 June 3pm at Merricks House Gallery at Merricks General Wine Store. All participants are invited to attend.  


Terms and Conditions 

  1. All reasonable care will be taken. However, Mornington Peninsula Shire will not be held responsible for any loss or damage to artworks.  

  2. Artists are to arrange their own exhibition insurance if they require this. 

  3. All works must be complete, dry and ready to be hung with D-rings attached. 

  4. Works not to exceed 1.5 square metre in size. 

  5. Artists’ whose works are displayed at Merrick’s House Art Gallery and Oakhill Gallery will be charged a 25% commission on works sold. Each Gallery will liaise with individual artists with regards to art sales. 

  6. Artists exhibiting works at Rosebud Shire Chambers are responsible for any sales of their works and can provide contact details at the bottom of their Artist Statement. 

  7. The Mornington Peninsula Shire may take photographs of the works and the exhibition for their promotions and publications. The artists will be attributed appropriately. 

  8. All art work submitted to the Green Wedge Exhibition will be displayed at one of three Exhibition Sites across the Peninsula. 

  9. Artists will be notified by Friday 31 May about where their artwork will be displayed.  

  10. All participating artists are encouraged to attend the official launch of the Green Wedge Exhibition to be held at Merrick’s General Wine Store – Merrick’s House Gallery on Saturday 15 June at 3pm. The Green Wedge Awards will be announced at the launch. 

  11. Artists must deliver their artwork to the Mornington Peninsula Regional Gallery, Civic Reserve, Dunns Rd, Mornington during these times: Friday 24 May and Saturday 25 May and Sunday 26 May between the times of 12-5pm. 

  12. Artists will be contacted by Shire Officers to arrange collection of their artwork.

  13. Artists displaying work at the Rosebud Shire Chambers do not pay a commission and may keep the entire proceeds from any sales and they liaise directly with the purchaser.

Chris Pubela 2  

2018 winning artist Chris Puebla with Cr. Bryan Payne. A $500 bursary was awarded to Chris Puebla for the most inspiring art work titled Natural Beauty (oil on canvas) which captures the open space at Bittern Reservoir.

William Goodwin  

The 2018 Encouragement Award, a $250 bursary was awarded to William Goodwin for his oil on canvas titled Green Wedge 1.
