Mount Eliza to Point Nepean Coastal Action Plan

The Mount Eliza to Nepean Coastal Action Plan (2021) helps the Shire understand and respond to the important issues that affect Port Phillip Bay coastline we manage. It incorporates feedback from the community and interprets and applies the Victorian Coastal Strategy to this section of coast.

The Coastal Action Plan recognises that while the coastal environment along Port Phillip Bay from Mount Eliza to Point Nepean is slowly improving, increasing recreational and commercial pressures are also growing. In the 2021 timeframe addressed by this Plan, these pressures are likely to result in a negative effect on sustainability and biodiversity on the Peninsula, specifically the Port Phillip Bay coast.

It proposes:

  • Ways to balance biodiversity conservation with increased public use and enjoyment of the coast.
  • A priority order for the preparation of coastal management plans
  • Addresses environmental issues, including water quality, stormwater, effluent disposal, marine environment, vegetation quality, landscape values and visual amenity.
