Food Economy and Agroecology Strategy
Mornington Peninsula Shire Council is committed to fostering a thriving local food economy and building resilience to climate change through sustainable farming practices, enhancing biodiversity and adopting circular economy principles.
To achieve this, the Shire is undertaking a comprehensive analysis of the regions Agriculture, Food and Beverage Industry to enable us to build a first-of-its-kind Agroecology and Food Economy Strategy. The 5-year strategy will consider the economy, the environment and the needs of the community.
The project is being undertaken by Council’s Economic Development Unit supported by a team of subject matter experts in agroecology, horticulture, and supply chain and economic analysis.
