Freedom of Information
The Freedom of Information Act 1982 (FOI Act) gives members of the public a right to access our documents. You can seek access to:
- documents about your personal affairs, regardless of the age of the documents
- documents held by us, not older than 1 January 1989.
The protection of the public interest and private and business affairs may cause some documents to be exempted from access.
The FOI Act does not apply to documents which are available for a fee as part of a public register or are documents which are available for purchase or already publicly available.

Part II Statement
Part II of the Freedom of Information Act 1982 provides for individuals and organisations to effectively exercise their right to access government information which may affect them.
The Shire releases a large amount of information through online and print publishing as well as person-to-person service provision. In order to comply with Part II of the FOI Act, the Shire has developed Information Statements to show how it makes information readily available to the public.
Making information readily available reduces the need for members of the public to submit requests under the Act.
