It’s not every day you see high school students with their work hanging in a public gallery — but that’s exactly what New Wave 25  is all about.

Now showing at Mornington Peninsula Regional Gallery, New Wave 25 celebrates the incredible talents of local VCE and VCE VET students across art, media, fashion, design and technology.

From bold photography and delicate ceramics to thought-provoking installations and wearable art, this exhibition showcases just how diverse and exciting the next generation of artists really is.

This year’s line-up features:

Sophie Matthews – OH MY GOD, I'M ON FIRE! But you look totally fine?
  • Milli Grover – Jessica Watson
  • Millie Watson Biggar – TSN Dream Realestate: Starting price, Everything You Own
  • Eligh Rennalls – Clutter
  • Arielle Lester – Versus
  • James Stuart – Fitting In: A How-To Guide and Wearable Whispers
We joined @curator_on_tour  to chat with some of the featured artists about the ideas behind their work — and what it’s like having a piece exhibited in a public gallery for the very first time.

Whether you're an art lover or an educator looking to spark some creative thinking, this is one exhibition you won't want to miss.

New Wave 25  is on until Sunday 25 May — FREE entry, open Tuesday to Sunday.

Hit play on the video to hear directly from the artists and see their incredible work in action!
