Big ideas and connections shine at Small Business Festival
Published on 13 September 2024
The Peninsula was buzzing in August as over 1,200 small business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs came together for the Small Business Festival!
With a full month of learning, networking, and inspiration, this event was all about helping local businesses level up.
From free to low-cost events, the festival delivered a tailored lineup packed with opportunities to sharpen skills and grow businesses. It wasn’t just about ticking boxes - this was about real growth!
With 95 per cent of local businesses employing fewer than five people, the festival addressed the unique challenges they face, offering everything from inspiring presentations to hands-on workshops and expert-led training.
Attendees got to dive deep into topics like marketing strategies, product management, and more, all while connecting with other passionate business owners who share the same drive to turn ideas into profit and make a positive impact on the Peninsula.
One of the biggest highlights? The Industry and Jobs Expo at Mornington Racecourse! More than 2,000 local students and job seekers explored career opportunities with 60 different local stallholders. This event was a collaborative effort, with support from the Business and Industry Support team, FMPLLEN, Frankston City, and Workforce Australia.
Participants were able to chat with industry pros, ask questions about different career paths, and check out the local jobs board. It was a hit!
People couldn’t stop talking about how inclusive and well-organized the festival was.
One participant said: “The location was stunning, and the keynote speaker was so entertaining and informative. Huge shoutout to the organizing team and our local Councillors for supporting small business owners like us.”
As the festival wraps up, the excitement is far from over. Armed with new skills and insights, participants are ready to put what they’ve learned into action. The Mornington Peninsula’s business community is only getting stronger from here!
