Thoughtless vandals have decimated a popular Crib Point playground installed less than 12 months ago.

After working closely with local police, the Shire is now calling on members of the public to come forward with any information regarding the damage, believed to have taken place on Sunday 6 January 2019.

Cerberus Ward Cr Kate Roper said the Stony Point Road outdoor play area was “completely trashed” with vandals going as far as cutting through secure locks on the equipment.

“It’s an absolute waste of ratepayer’s money and Council resources to repair this near-new playground.

“The amount of damage would have taken some time, we’re hoping someone saw something and is able to assist local police with their investigation”.

Cr Roper shared her disappointment at the closure of the area, describing it as a huge blow to the local community.

“Crib Point is a small community and it’s so disappointing to have this central playground, located so close to the shops, closed off for a large part of the school holidays”.

The playground will remain closed until it can be made safe with the Shire currently awaiting parts to re-build the damaged equipment.

The Shire urges anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online at
