Rye foreshore redevelopment continues
Published on 07 April 2021
After receiving feedback last year from the community, Mornington Peninsula Shire has updated the concept plans for the Rye foreshore redevelopment as part of the $6.5 million Rye Township Plan.
The Rye foreshore redevelopment sees the upgrade of the foreshore promenade, foreshore park and foreshore camping.
Since community consultation last year, the landscape strategy and concept plan have been further improved to balance the vision of the foreshore along with feedback from the community.
The four main themes of community feedback were around:
- reduction in camping numbers
- car park locations near the pier
- biodiversity across the foreshore
- all-abilities access across the foreshore.
The landscape strategy and concept plans have subsequently been updated in some areas to respond to the key themes from the community consultation process.
You can view the updated plans, review the changes and find out further details about the Rye foreshore redevelopment at mornpen.vic.gov.au/ryetownshipplan.
The next step is to seek Council endorsement of the plans at an upcoming Council Meeting on 20 April 2021, prior to commencing the detailed design.
Following Council endorsement, developing the detailed design will be carried out for the rest of the year, with construction aiming to begin mid-2022.
