Mornington Peninsula Shire is taking steps to keep our roads and footpaths safe by doing a detailed road condition inspection.

Work has already begun to assess our 1,356km of road network and is likely to be completed by May 2021.

To complete this detailed inspection, you might see a camera equipped, inspection vehicle travelling on our local roads around your work, home, and other locations during this time.

All cameras are focused on the road and kerbs and no images or recordings will be taken of commercial or private properties.

The road inspection vehicles are driven by experienced operators travelling at normal traffic speeds. The vehicles are clearly identifiable with hazard lights and other warning devices and the drivers will give way to meet the needs of pedestrians.

If you encounter one of these vehicles on the road, we ask you keep a full car length distance to provide the rear cameras with a clear view of the road surface.

We thank you for your patience during this road condition inspection. From this assessment we aim to provide better maintenance, connectivity and safety on our roads and footpaths.
