This Remembrance Day marks the 99th anniversary of the armistice which ended the First World War (1914–18).

On behalf of Council, I express my sincere gratitude to brave servicemen and women who answered their country’s call.

We also take this opportunity to acknowledge and show appreciation for all serviceman and women past and present for the very freedom Australians have today.

On Remembrance Day, many of us will observe a minute’s silence at 11am in memory of those who died or suffered in all wars and armed conflicts.

We have so much to be thankful for – the Mornington Peninsula, Victoria and Australia would not be what it is today without the great sacrifice of many of those men and women.

Let us remember war heroes, and honour brave hearts.

We will remember them. Lest we forget.

Mornington Peninsula Shire Mayor Councillor Bev Colomb.
