Peninsula cleans up with 27 Tidy Towns finalists

Published on 06 September 2018

Mornington, Rosebud and Rye are among eight towns announced as finalists in the running for Keep Victoria Beautiful’s Tidy Town of the year 2018.

27 projects from across the Peninsula were also announced as finalists in the Award’s Sustainable Communities categories.

The awards recognise communities taking action to protect and enhance local environments in regional areas across Australia.

Finalists will be recognised at the regional awards event taking place in Safety Beach on Tuesday 18 September.

Mornington Peninsula Shire Mayor Councillor Bryan Payne congratulates all entrants and finalists for this accomplishment.

“My fellow Councillors and I are extremely proud of our community and Shire officers for their dedication to preserving and protecting our Peninsula.

“The Shire proudly supports Keep Victoria Beautiful and the awards which encourage our community to lead the way on sustainable action.

“Again, well done to everyone and on behalf of the community we wish you all the very best for the finals in Beechworth.”

Briars Ward Councillor and Keep Victoria Beautiful Tidy Towns Awards councillor representative Bev Colomb said “we are very lucky to have such a dedicated and passionate group of community members who work tirelessly to protect the values of the Shire and its environment”.
