Nominations for our 2022 Age-Friendly Awards are opening soon

Published on 17 August 2022

The Mornington Peninsula Shire Delys Sargeant Age-Friendly Awards began in 2014 when our Peninsula Advisory Committee for Elders (PACE) sought our help to celebrate the age-friendly work being done across our Peninsula.
What exactly is ‘age-friendly’ and how can we acknowledge the local initiatives, clubs, businesses, services, or people who demonstrate this quality for older members of our community?
Being age-friendly means valuing the contribution older people make to our community, working together to reduce ageism and encouraging respect and inclusion of older people across our Peninsula.
The awards continue to remember their namesake Delys Sargeant OAM who was a driving force behind creating better opportunities and support for older community members on the Mornington Peninsula. If you know of something or someone who contributes to building a stronger age-friendly local community, then nominate them for an award.
Nomination categories include:

  • Senior Achiever Award
Do you know a person aged 50+ who has made a significant contribution to our local community? One special person will also be awarded Mayor’s Elder of the Year Award.
  • PACE Community Award
Does your local community organisation or club offer an innovative and age-friendly program? Do you work with someone who encourages diversity and inclusive opportunities? Perhaps a local business goes over and above to help you? Let us know about them!
  • Intergenerational Award
We can all learn from each other at any age so nominate your favourite service, group, business, or person who has brought people of all ages together.

Nominations for our Delys Sargeant Age-Friendly Awards open on Monday 22 August and close on Friday 30 September 2022.

For any questions or queries regarding the awards please call the Positive Ageing Officer on 5950 1733
