Safety Beach residents and visitors will soon have access to brand new public toilets and change rooms at the Safety Beach foreshore.
The existing public toilet is in poor condition and has been closed to the public. Portable public toilets have been installed and will remain in place until the new facility is ready for use.
The soon-to-be $600,000 reconstructed facility will meet the needs of the popular foreshore precinct and feature:
Works will begin later this month and be completed in February next year.
Quote attributable to Cr Antonella Celi:
“The long awaited, new public toilet and change rooms will be located in the heart of Safety Beach, close to the playground, beach and shops for locals and visitors to access while enjoying a day out on the Peninsula. The project has been accelerated through the Shire’s Public Toilet Strategy that encourages the upgrade of public toilet facilities across the Mornington Peninsula.”
Quote attributable to Seawinds Cr Debra Mar:
“This much needed upgrade also falls under the Safety Beach Coastal Master Plan 2016. The Shire will be funding the project as part of its annual capital works budget to improve amenity and comfort of those who visit the area.
“Please bear with us while we get this important work done, it will be worth the wait!”
Quote attributable to Seawinds Cr Kerri McCafferty:
“The new facility has been designed to be environmentally efficient. Energy consumption will be kept low through high levels of natural daylight and passive ventilation. The design has incorporated weather resistant materials for longevity and minimal maintenance, keeping our long-term environmental impacts lower.”
