The Mornington Peninsula community will know the make up of the new Shire Council on Friday 6 November at the ‘Declaration of Election’ ceremony.
Live streamed from the Peninsula Community Theatre, the ‘Declaration of Election’ event will be facilitated by the VEC from 3pm.
All candidates will be invited to attend and also be given the opportunity to speak.
Mornington Peninsula Shire CEO John Baker said he was looking forward to meeting the new 2020-2024 Council and welcoming them to the Mornington Peninsula Shire.
“This is an exciting and challenging time for the new Councillors and the whole Shire team as we prepare to develop the strategy and vision for the next term of Council and focus on the recovery and bounce back for the Mornington Peninsula economy post Covid lockdown”.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions and indoor density quotients, the general public won’t be able to attend in person but will be able to tune in to the live stream via mornpen.vic.gov.au/councilelections
The new Council will be officially sworn in at the Annual Council Meeting on Monday 16 November where the Mayor and Deputy Mayor will also be elected.
