The second and final round of our Local Economy Booster reimbursement program is launching soon. Mornington Peninsula residents (18+) are eligible for reimbursements of up to $100 per household for visiting eligible tourism attractions, experiences and/or accommodation on the Peninsula from 26 April to 31 May 2022.

This initiative is part of Council’s $10 million recovery package. The program is designed to give our tourism industry a boost during the off-peak season and help them rebuild after the hardship they’ve experienced due to multiple lockdowns and closed borders.

Registrations open 10am, Tuesday 19 April and closes on 23 April, unless allocation is exhausted prior. The eligible spend period is from 26 April to 31 May 2022.

740 vouchers are available. More than $150 must be spent on eligible tourism expenses in one or more transactions.

This program covers:

  • Paid tours and experiences: tour operators offering regularly organised tours with a leisure-tourism focus, led by experienced guides. For example fishing charter, bay sail, snorkel tour, kayak tour, guided walk, bus tour, food and wine tour, experiences like cooking workshops and masterclasses.
  • Entry fees to attractions such as outdoor adventure parks, animal parks, museums, mazes, drive-in theatre and hot springs.
  • Eligible paid accommodation such as serviced apartments, bed and breakfasts, cabins or caravans in holiday parks, cottages, private holiday rentals, motels, hotels, resorts, retreats and lodges.

Preference will be given to households that did not participate in round one. Residents who successfully participated and were reimbursed in round one are not eligible to apply again. The program excludes activities such as dining at restaurants or cafes, transport, gift vouchers, purchase of alcohol or groceries.
