Mayoral Charity Golf Day raises $20k for charity

Published on 07 May 2018

The Mayoral Charity Golf Day was a hole in one raising $20,000 for local causes.

On Friday 27 April more than 100 keen golfers and participants gathered at the St Andrews Beach Golf Course for a game and later joined the Mayor for lunch at St Andrews Beach Brewery raising $15,000 in much-needed funds for Peninsula Home Hospice.

The Hospice provides free of charge, in-home care to more than 800 peninsula-based patients who are faced with a life-threatening illness, as well as providing support to their families.

A raffle held on the day raised a further $5,000 for two peninsula charities:

  • Southern Peninsula Food For All, a volunteer led initiative providing emergency food relief to the Southern Peninsula ($3,000).
  • Clothes 4U, a Rosebud charity helping local disadvantaged women ($2,000).

Shire Mayor Councillor Bryan Payne hailed the event as a great success “it was a fantastic day and I was so proud to see our community rally together for this vital support service.

“Peninsula Home Hospice provides quality of life and honours the hope for comfort, choice, dignity and peace.

“I sincerely thank all those who attended, our generous sponsors Belgravia Leisure and Searoad Ferries and Shire staff for helping deliver such a sensational event”.
