Let us know your thoughts on the Rye Township Plan

Published on 19 April 2017

Mornington Peninsula Shire invites the community to have a say on the future of Rye township as it develops the Rye Township Plan.

Council held its first interactive design-based workshop on Tuesday 11 April. More than 40 people attended and contributed great ideas across the evening on the foreshore reserve, streetscape and town centre.

We are holding a second interactive design-based workshop on Thursday 4 May, where the community is invited to attend and share their ideas and vision for the future of Rye.

This session will build off the feedback gathered from the first session, and will allow the community to provide further suggestions as well as see the progression of their ideas into the concepts contained in the plan.

The Rye Township Plan will set out the long-term strategic vision for the town, providing a holistic view of the township including the foreshore, Point Nepean Road and commercial centre.

Some of the topics to be considered by the plan include:

  • location of car parking, camping and picnic facilities
  • open space and recreation
  • streetscape design
  • landscaping
  • pedestrian, vehicle and bicycle connections
  • access to the water
  • public realm improvements in the town centre.

If you are unable to attend the workshop, please feel free to provide feedback and suggestions via the online survey on Council’s website.
