Mornington Peninsula Shire is inviting new parents to Baby Makes 3, a first-time parent group designed to support parents and provide an opportunity to hear from others on the same journey.

Shire Mayor Councillor Bryan Payne said the program aligns with the Our Wellbeing theme of Council’s four-year plan Our Peninsula 2017-2021.

“We’re dedicated to building thriving communities by ensuring our families and parents feel valued and are supported by their local Council.

“Maintaining healthy relationships in the transition to parenthood is essential and we want to provide support to parents wherever we can”.

The program is run as a two-hour session, once a week over a three-week period, for both parents and baby and is facilitated by a male and female group leader.

Topics covered include:

• Becoming a parent for the first time

• Who does what

• Healthy relationships

• Meaningful equality

• Communication

• Dealing with conflict

• Intimacy

Come and be with others, share the journey and know you’re not alone on this new voyage in to parenthood.

For first time fathers this is a great opportunity to meet other dads and share your experiences of change during your early parenting months.

The program is FREE with light dinner provided, bookings are essential.

Sessions will be held throughout 2018 and 2019 in Balnarring, Capel Sound, Hastings, Mornington and Somerville.
