Expressions of Interest open for mobile food vans on the peninsula
Published on 01 October 2018
Mornington Peninsula Shire is calling for Expressions of Interest (EOI) from parties wishing to operate mobile food vans from approved itinerant trading locations on the Mornington Peninsula.
The Shire provides opportunities for temporary mobile food van vendors to add to the public’s enjoyment by allocating four static foreshore permits and two roving residential permits per year.
Itinerant trading locations across the Mornington Peninsula include:
- Residential Roving 1
- Residential Roving 2
- Mornington – Schnapper Point Drive
- Mount Martha - Esplanade
- Safety Beach – Marine Drive
- Sorrento – Point Nepean Road.
The aim of the temporary permits is to provide food or drinks to the public at locations that are a distance from commercial seaside townships but offer a valuable service to the local people.
Mornington Peninsula Shire Mayor Councillor Bryan Payne said “the Shire is committed to encouraging and facilitating operators in establishing non-permanent seasonal businesses that enhance the tourism potential and recreation of the Mornington Peninsula.
“A vibrant and successful mobile food vendor sector can showcase and take advantage of the inherent strengths of our region with its array of quality food, wine, tourism and lifestyle experiences.
“The contribution of vendors, complementing our existing businesses bring vibrancy and are key to economic growth,” concluded Councillor Payne.
EOI submissions are currently open and close 2pm Monday 15 October 2018.
